Airplane lands on golf course
Yesterday afternoon a small plane heading to Columbus, Texas, landed on the Hermann Park Golf Course sometime around 6pm. I watched the report on the news last night, apparently it was having some engine problems. On the report they mentioned that they wouldn't be moving the airplane until later today and since my office is down the street I decided to drive past it and hopefully take a picture. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any closer (police presence) so this is the best picture I could get with my phone.

After the curlers
The curlers came off and look at those luxurious curls. She was not
happy to put on the curlers, but she loved the end results.

Logan's Birthday with friends
Logan wanted a SpiderMan cake so Jennifer made him a cake from scratch. Below is a picture of the Spidey cake.

Logan and his friends, we are singing happy birthday. From left to right: Jennifer, Sahil, Sohil, Logan, Sydney, Sarah and Sheeva in the back.

Making a "Lighting McQueen" poster for Logan
After Logan saw the dragon that I made for Skylar, he wanted me to make a Lightning McQueen (from the Cars Pixar movie) for his wall. Actually I think the request was more like: "Daddy, I want you make a talking car for my wall."
To that end, I spent a few hours putting it together today.
First, I found a picture on the web and printed it. I printed a color version and a gray scale version. The gray version made it easier to see the details for sketching. I used a grid method to make it easier to transfer and enlarge the picture. For this grid a half inch on the print corresponded to three inches on the cardboard.
Above are the print-outs.

This is the cardboard with the larger grid and my sketch from original print.

A picture with Logan for scale.

Then I began the coloring process, I used acrylic paint. At this point I was using the color print for reference. Note: cardboard tends to suck-up paint, it takes more paint than you think.

After a couple of hours and a few more gray hairs it was finally finished. Next, cut image out.

Using a utility knife and a new sharp blade I cut all around the car to remove it from the cardboard. Above is the car, cut-out and on Logan's wall.

Now that is one happy boy!
Now Sydney wants Tinker Bell on her wall. . .
