Logan and the siren

So, last night I was sitting on the sofa doing some work on the laptop when Logan sat down next to me.  He sat quietly next to me holding his “Blanky” when we both heard the sound of a siren coming from a distant street.  He sat up, looked at me and said:

“Daddy, you hear that sound? sometimes people look at a please applesauce”

I didn’t know what he was trying to say, so I asked, “a what?”

“A p’lease apple sauce - you hear that?” he replied annoyed that I didn’t know what he was talking about.

I thought for a minute and then it registered.  “Oh, a police officer?” I asked.

“Yes!!! A p’lease offi sauce!” He exclaimed.

We looked at each other for a second, and then we both laughed.

I think he realized that he said it funny.
